Forestry Jobs - Forest Engineers
The use of technology and engineering brings products from the woods to modern society. These two areas of knowledge are essential to reconnect resources with the people who use them. Furthermore, the vision of eco-management and sustainable forestry has become possible. Today, a growing variety of sophisticated equipment and instruments are used to acquire forestry products while protecting other valuable assets of the woods such as soil, water, habitat, wild animals, and many more.
Job Description
These highly specialized engineers are responsible for designing roads and bridges to get the raw products from the woods to the mill in a convenient manner. They are also responsible for minimizing the impact on the habitat as a whole during tree harvesting operations. There are many engineers who design equipment to help accomplish this job safely and productively, machinery that is both cost-effective and environmentally sensitive. Now that these very sophisticated machines are being used, competent operators and designers are needed to manage this equipment as well as other computerized instruments.
Career Path
It is not easy to become this type of woodlands architect. It requires a serious commitment to attain such a position. It involves taking both engineering and management courses. These courses are useful and necessary to carry out technical activities. Management skills are needed mostly to preserve and protect the forest.
It is also important to participate in seminars and other accelerated courses that enhance knowledge in biology, chemistry, physics and other areas. Most of these classes are very useful in gaining knowledge about various life cycles of different tree species and the contribution of these trees to human progress and development.
A state civil service examination is a requirement to qualify for this position. In most states, this test is conducted every six months to a year so that engineers are able to stay current with their qualifications. Depending on the position for which an application is being made, a specific exam is given for each position and usually includes questions that cover the state forestry policies.
There are also other privately owned corporations in need of this type of forestry manager. Large companies are employing the services of these specialized engineers in areas such as the development of roads, best practices with used forestry equipment, and lumber logistics needs. There are also quite a few companies that are challenging engineers to look for and find new ways for the sustainability of trees in the future - as most companies still use the century-old process of applying the green harvesting practice of planting one new tree to replace every cut tree.
Building Roads and Sustainable Forests
Forest roads are very important and the work of forest engineers is one of the huge contributors to progress in this area. These roads have brought many benefits such as management of the woods; timber harvesting and transportation; and easy access in case of fires. Although the main purpose for building these roads was for timber logistics, these roads later became multi-purpose.
In the past, many problems were associated with road building such as stream sedimentation and soil erosion; now these problems are being prevented. Through engineering, the construction of these roads has been minimized. This has been accomplished through the construction and use of alternative ways for logistics, such as skyline cable logging systems and even through the use of helicopters to transport harvested timbers over longer distances.
These highly specialized designers and managers play a big role in sustainable resources that can provide benefits not only to the human race but also to other living things that inhabit our planet. By becoming an engineer in this industry, someone who chooses this profession as their career can help reshape the planet Earth for all of its future inhabitants!

Chemical Engineers - Career, Education & Salary
The field of engineering offers vast scope for candidates. One of the most fulfilling and profitable careers in engineering is becoming chemical engineers. These professionals use the principles of chemistry for the manufacturing a wide range of chemical products. Besides production of chemical products, chemical engineers also design equipment for chemical plants. These engineers apply principles of chemistry and physics and engineering technology to manufacture products like synthetic rubber, plastic, gasoline, detergents, paper, cement etc. While doing their job, engineers are confronted with multiple problems that they need to solve using technology and by applying principles of chemistry. In case of large scale manufacturing, chemical engineers also design the manufacturing equipment and test the manufacturing method before implementing the procedure.
Not only in the field of chemical manufacturing, but these engineers also work in a variety of other manufacturing industries. This, in turn, increases the career scope for these professionals. Industries like electronics, food, paper and clothing have multiple scope for chemical engineers. Apart from working in these industries, these engineers can also join fields like healthcare and biotechnology. By gaining more experience and expertise, engineers can also choose to specialize in a specific area according to their interest and preference. They can either choose to specialize in a specific chemical process or products. Chemical engineers can specialize in chemical processes like oxidation, polymerization or nanomaterials.
The job of a chemical engineer also demands responsibilities. While performing their task, the engineers must be well versed with the chemical processes involved in the manufacturing of products. They should know how these processes can have an effect on the environment. Chemical engineers need to do their work without making an harm to the environment, consumers and the workers. Every stage of the entire manufacturing process is thoroughly revised by the engineers to ensure the safety of workers as well. Long work-related experience is valued highly in the field of chemical engineering.
Education & Training
For entry level positions in the field of chemical engineering, candidates need to equip themselves with a bachelor's degree in engineering. Engineering degrees can be obtained in electrical, mechanical, electronics or civil engineering. Engineers trained in one branch can have the flexibility of joining other related branches of engineering. This flexibility benefits employers as well as engineers. While employers can easily meet their staffing needs, engineers can have multiple career opportunities to choose from and can also shift fields depending on the prospects and interests. Besides the engineering degrees mentioned above, many colleges also offer specialized courses or training programs in engineering technology, the duration ranging between 2 to 4 years.
Candidates who have been trained in 4-year technology programs can land jobs similar to those candidates that carry a bachelor's degree in engineering. Around 1,830 college and university programs across America have the accreditation of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). In addition to this, the board has also provided its accreditation to 710 engineering technology programs.
Work Environment & Salary
While working as chemical engineers, professionals will be working in laboratories, manufacturing plants or offices. Depending on the requirement, engineers may also need to spend time outdoors. Chemical engineers usually work 40 hours a week. Around 33,000 jobs for chemical engineers are expected by the year 2016. The median annual salary of chemical engineers is $78.860. Starting salary of chemical engineers is the highest as compared to other graduate level jobs.

Audio Recording Training For Aspiring Audio Engineers
Attending school to become an audio recording technician is an excellent way to begin a rewarding career. As the recession continues and many are forced to re-think their career plans, many audiophiles and stereo geeks are considering turning their hobby into a profession.
The Internet has had a huge impact on music and audio recording as well. Now that bands can distribute their music across the globe from home, bands are being discovered in more places than ever before. Thanks to this, there are more opportunities for audio technicians.
No longer do recording professionals have to live in Los Angeles, New York, or London to make a living. Artists are staying true to their roots and staying in their hometown to make music. These artists need recording professionals that know the equipment involved and have the skills to produce professional recordings.
Do Your Research When Looking for an Audio Recording School
If you're interested in working as an audio engineer or producer, you'll need to receive some training for recording. There are recording schools across the country, so finding one in your area should be easy. However, just because you find one, doesn't mean it is the best one for you.
You want to find Music Engineer course that offers hands-on experience with the equipment that the pros use. This means attending a school that has professional quality mixing boards, microphones, and recording studios. Learning the theory of audio recording and mixing is important, but gaining real-world experience is just as important.
The key to finding a good school is to ask plenty of questions. Ask for a list of graduates and their achievements in the field. Find out who hires from the school and why. After you have the full story, then you are ready to make a decision.
