College is more fun than high school. It is more exciting, more colorful. You wouldn't be with the same people in all your classes, and half the students in your subjects will not even be in the same year level as you are.
But entering college is also the most stressful part of your academic life. Choosing a course will not take only a few days, it will take weeks of contemplation and even research. Not to mention considering the future job opportunities offered by a course and its prospective expenditure. Get a desk and some ergonomic chairs and lay your college application forms down side-by-side as you follow these tips on choosing your college course:
* Consider your talents or abilities. Why suffer in something that you are bad in when you can lead where you shine? You will achieve great in a field that you are good in. It will increase your chances of getting a head start over the others and you will be able to fulfill whatever your professor will be asking you to do, no matter how difficult it will be because you will be able to enjoy the process of doing it.
* Evaluate your aptitude. Sometimes, talents do not say it all. If you want to do more than indulge yourself in your talents, or you simply do not dream of becoming a professionally trained guitarist even if you are great on the strings, then consider other courses based on your aptitude on other fields such as the sciences or communication arts. Couple it up with patience and perseverance and you will be able to get through all those Maths in the course curriculum of your choice.
* Look into your heart. Perhaps the most basic tip of all, choosing a college course really depends on what you set your heart to do, no matter how cheesy that sounds. Just like relationships, it will be difficult to offer the best of your abilities when you do not wholeheartedly love what you are doing. You would just end up shifting to another course and delaying your graduation if you do not love the things you are doing in your field of study.
These tips do not guarantee you a hundred percent sure ball happiness in the course that you will be choosing; these do not work on everybody and anything can change at any moment- before, during, and even after college. What is important is that you do your best and give everything that you can in whatever field you choose to pursue, and keep your eyes on the ball and prevent distractions so that you get maximum fulfillment once you march up on stage in your toga. Oh, and getting a medal for an honor won't be bad too.
